Absolutely brilliant. Search engine that plants trees. Not only it is saving the world, tree by tree, but it is also creating jobs in areas where employment is scarce. Works really well and it's for a good cause. Ecosia is transparent about its actions and keeps users engaged with them. Responsive and accepts criticism as a way to grow.

I find ecosia to be as good as google and although I would like to see more info on where the trees are planted and such, I am happy to support such a cause!

Great search engine, and for a great cause! Love that you can see how many trees will be planted thanks to your searches (not sure if it's real but it makes you feel good!) The only downfall is that there is no "shopping" tab like there would be a videos, images or news tab, but that's not a big deal in my opinion.

I have used the search engine for several months and find it to be good, is it as smooth and slick as Google with things like Maps, not quite - but that is (I think) to do with it utilising Bing as a backend. Do I sometimes use other search engines to check things? Yes, but I have always done that.
I would recommend it, it is for a good cause.

I am the worst speller! Please add the spelling possibilities to the main search page, like google has. I Love using Ecosia and the one helpful thing I need from you, to me and I'm sure others that aren't sure of the right vowels to use, would appreciate this added feather. I want to use Ecosia 100% of the time. Thank you...Angel

Friends, be sure you share this around, be the voice of the amazing cause. I'm currently planning an email to the head of my school, asking that this is the main search engine used within the school grounds. This engine, is 100% amazing, with nineteen members, and 80% of profit going to planting the trees. It's a good quality search engine. It's easy to use. There isn't any linked viruses. USE THIS!!!
( If you were wondering, Ecosia fund the business through advertisement.)

Good search engine, doesn't feel any different from Google - but please make a function so that one can scroll through the image search with the arrow keys instead of having to click on every picture! Other than that, Ecosia is great!

Search filters for time periods or specifics work well for me.. If it's super specific I will usually have the link. Not read much about the company apart from their own statements. Nice Idea though.

Really good initiative.
Very good and fast, works similar to google.
However not 5 stars for me as image search is limited and there is no definition tool like google.
Would recommend it to anyone not bothered by this. Also trying it out can't hurt as is easily removable.

ecosia has violated my 2nd amendment rights in that it put a certificate on my ecosia search site that allows a third party to look at everything I do. I am going to sue this company thru my attorney.

At first i was annoyed but I realised it was a troll. In an honest light, Ecosia specifically states there are no third-party spies or adware.

Your second amendment rights are the right to bear arms. And anything you do on the internet is free to be viewed by ANYONE in the world! Besides, I'm sure Google does the SAME THING.

The search filters don't work, at all (at least for me). I often want to restrict result to my country or to a particular time period but neither of these has any impact on the search results. I like the concept but have to switch back to Google so often that I'm increasing my footprint for searches, instead of reducing it.
I've sent feedback to Ecosia about this a few times and only received an automated reply. So I've removed Ecosia.
If you never (or only rarely) want to filter search results then go with it, otherwise, don't bother.
