i bought swaps but they were not credited to my account. wrote to gurushots. they replied and asked for a screenshot of my transaction. but the only records of my purchases are the google play e-mail receipts that i receive after each transaction. i sent that but they've gone silent for over a week despite chasers.

I am in Gurushots since May 2017. Previously I was in other similar photo challenge web sites. Gurushots is too much better than any other I was, but there are some critical points that must be improved.
One is the allowance to upload photo having sign, in the way anyone can see who is the owner of that photo. I think that the signed photo must be treat as off topics photo.
Another is that you see not special photos taking a lot of votes in the last few day of the challenge, giving the impression that exists some tricks.
Even if there are some issue, I feel well in Gurushots ;-)

I just started this gurushots and already see a lot of fishy things.
You can't find/vote for friends or specific people you follow ... so how are the top contenders getting so many votes?
you can "like" but not vote or even find where they submitted to.
the page says it loads 100 random images for voting and to keep things fair but sitting here with a friend we get same 100 images loading up every time we try voting.
I'm actually wondering if the Top contenders are even unique accounts because most like they could be shot by same photographer using same post process.
I can see maybe ...what? 5-10 (at most) different styles for the top 100.
I haven't paid for upgrades but invited people to get boosts
that "seeeeems" to work but one of my shots has been hung at 1 more vote to got to top level (12 hours?) with autofill on AND a boost! hahaha #canyousayshady
It looked a little more legit than viewbug (which I wasted $$$ on subscribing to) but I was wrong.

I've been doing it a while and I've noticed a trend which I find disturbing. The top performing photos will get a thousand votes almost immediately and generally speaking will be achieved by the highest ranking photographers. I don't see how these photographs can achieve a thousand votes in a just one day after an contest starts. In many cases the photos achieving this are okay but aren't extraordinary. It seems like the individuals that achieve at this level are in a special league of elites and the voting is rigged somehow. Seems fishy to me....

I find Guru shots an amazing system of viewing pictures from all parts of the world at the same time getting a universal recognition of pictures one submits. The program appears well designed and planned. It allows me to see and appreciate fantastic photography at no cost [I have been a member from early days and haven't bought or been forced to by anything]. The challenges are frequent, varied and interesting. The communication between Guru shots and competitors is consistent and when necessary critical. The rewards offered are useful and relevant but if one could win every reward without getting too rich. I don't profess to be a photographer of consequence but thoroughly enjoy the experience.

I just started playing and my pictures were doing pretty good, but for some reason my profile name changed and my email. I emailed customer service, but no one has got back to me, it's been 3 days. Anyone else having a problem with this?

As a long time photographer, I was urged by another photographer to give GuruShots a try. My initial downloads were excellent, and I quickly went form Newbie to Advanced, with images receiving 600+ points. Within a matter of weeks, however, equally good photos were receiving very low votes, although I was continuing to vote for OTHERS images, as well as purchasing swaps and boosts. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that the idea of this is to get you to a point where you see yourself as a successful photographer and participant, and being PAYING them for the boosts and swaps that help get you there.

I've pointed out that some its members are not following the rules set, like:
"Similar images: Images with the same combination of subject, background, foreground and location are not allowed. Images must be distinct."
But, I was informed they couldn't possibly find the members that are delinquent using their ranking. Then I went back and reviewed only the Top 100 and found 33 individuals with "Similar Images", within 7 minutes. I let them know the names of these individuals and then they come back with :
"If all of the members you saw as similar would have been reported then we could have gone ahead and reviewed them immediately."
Since the contest was still in progress (and still is as of this writing), I believe that response means, We don't do anything about cheaters even if you shove it in our face!
So, clearly at least 33% are cheating at least in the contest I reviewed.
I'm currently not of the caliber to be in the top 100, but there are at least 33 individuals who could have been if not for the cheaters.

I enter often and usually get as high as Elite, but I don't agree with using the total votes for all four of your pictures counting toward your score. Each photo should be counted as an individual, not part of a group. How else can one photo be judged to be the best in any challenge?

When I first started submitting photos to the contests, I really enjoyed gunshots, but I am not pleased with the new swapping options. I feel like they lost some integrity, first by trying to force us to buy swaps and thinking that we are dumb enough to think that method is advantageous to us. Then by dropping the numbers of photos we can submit to the contests to three, thus making us have even more need to buy swaps. I have also noticed that the bar was suddenly raised so it has become much harder to level up. I see it all as a ploy to force us to buy swaps and I am not impressed. I am losing respect and losing interest with every new change they announce.

Liked it to start with and now it has turned into a bait and switch. They keep raising the votes needed to change levels, making it almost impossible to reach the higher levels needed to move up in the contests. After a year of doing pretty well, I now can't get past the skilled level.

I enjoy participating in Gurushots.com live photo contests and viewing other photographers' work, whether winners, guru picks or not. Unfortunately, gurus haven't picked any of my photos to display. :)
In the past, I frequently hired this site's gurus for photo critiques. This paid service is unavailable now, although old critiques are still visible. Offering this advice again would be greatly appreciated as many amateur photographers have benefited from the critiques.
Also, I have had consistent difficulty navigating the current photo contest picks as scrolling down the screen takes much time & only rarely am I able to see and vote for an array of pictures 4th down or lower. I would have alerted the site managers to this problem, but cannot find any way to do so.

Well i have noticed this also but now i seem to have lost everything i cannot even get onto the site and im cross because i use all my own photos...Should of left well alone..
Add a commentIt is very obviously rigged to give more votes to those who spend the most money. I have had the same experience. My photos get tons of votes until it gets close to winning and/or the end of a challenge and then stops just shy of a prize. Every photographer should avoid this "game".
