i bought swaps but they were not credited to my account. wrote to gurushots. they replied and asked for a screenshot of my transaction. but the only records of my purchases are the google play e-mail receipts that i receive after each transaction. i sent that but they've gone silent for over a week despite chasers.

I am in Gurushots since May 2017. Previously I was in other similar photo challenge web sites. Gurushots is too much better than any other I was, but there are some critical points that must be improved.
One is the allowance to upload photo having sign, in the way anyone can see who is the owner of that photo. I think that the signed photo must be treat as off topics photo.
Another is that you see not special photos taking a lot of votes in the last few day of the challenge, giving the impression that exists some tricks.
Even if there are some issue, I feel well in Gurushots ;-)

I just started this gurushots and already see a lot of fishy things.
You can't find/vote for friends or specific people you follow ... so how are the top contenders getting so many votes?
you can "like" but not vote or even find where they submitted to.
the page says it loads 100 random images for voting and to keep things fair but sitting here with a friend we get same 100 images loading up every time we try voting.
I'm actually wondering if the Top contenders are even unique accounts because most like they could be shot by same photographer using same post process.
I can see maybe ...what? 5-10 (at most) different styles for the top 100.

I haven't paid for upgrades but invited people to get boosts
that "seeeeems" to work but one of my shots has been hung at 1 more vote to got to top level (12 hours?) with autofill on AND a boost! hahaha #canyousayshady

It looked a little more legit than viewbug (which I wasted $$$ on subscribing to) but I was wrong.

It is very obviously rigged to give more votes to those who spend the most money. I have had the same experience. My photos get tons of votes until it gets close to winning and/or the end of a challenge and then stops just shy of a prize. Every photographer should avoid this "game".

I've been doing it a while and I've noticed a trend which I find disturbing. The top performing photos will get a thousand votes almost immediately and generally speaking will be achieved by the highest ranking photographers. I don't see how these photographs can achieve a thousand votes in a just one day after an contest starts. In many cases the photos achieving this are okay but aren't extraordinary. It seems like the individuals that achieve at this level are in a special league of elites and the voting is rigged somehow. Seems fishy to me....

Just wait, it will slow down unless you keep paying. I had a similar experience when I started. Lots of all star levels and quickly moved up the ranks. I'm now very close to the rank below guru level. I haven't paid for any power ups, but I have paid to enter exhibition challenges. Once their algorithms decided I wasn't going to give them much money my votes started dwindling. Photos stop getting any votes once I approach all star level. I am highly skilled and experienced, with pro gear and nearly 20 years of experience, including a photography degree. So don't act like everyone thinks it's rigged just because they suck. I know it's rigged. And my work speaks for itself. Take a look at my portfolio and try telling me again that I'm not reaching all star level because my work isn't good enough. www.walsto.com
It's rigged, period. You'll see ;)

The same with me. I achieved Master status, I have enough guru pics to be a guru but never get to win a challenge because I don't buy swaps.
They invite me every day to swap, to engage in an exhibition and cool down my voting system near the end of the challenges. I have been several times first place in challenges but from the middle to the end of the challenge I get stuck without more votes even when a boost is still active.
I have other criticism such as people voting in challenges they are participating. This is wrong. If someone I am in second or third place I will never vote in the first one even though his photo is better than mine. Also most voting people knows nothing about photography and I have seen there very good photos but also I have seen photos winning challenges that I should through to the trash can

I find Guru shots an amazing system of viewing pictures from all parts of the world at the same time getting a universal recognition of pictures one submits. The program appears well designed and planned. It allows me to see and appreciate fantastic photography at no cost [I have been a member from early days and haven't bought or been forced to by anything]. The challenges are frequent, varied and interesting. The communication between Guru shots and competitors is consistent and when necessary critical. The rewards offered are useful and relevant but if one could win every reward without getting too rich. I don't profess to be a photographer of consequence but thoroughly enjoy the experience.

As a long time photographer, I was urged by another photographer to give GuruShots a try. My initial downloads were excellent, and I quickly went form Newbie to Advanced, with images receiving 600+ points. Within a matter of weeks, however, equally good photos were receiving very low votes, although I was continuing to vote for OTHERS images, as well as purchasing swaps and boosts. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that the idea of this is to get you to a point where you see yourself as a successful photographer and participant, and being PAYING them for the boosts and swaps that help get you there.

Have also noticed a drop off in my image prominence after a while. It seems harder and harder to get Photos voted for, although I'm sure I've submitted better photos as I've progressed as a photographer.

I have observed the same phenomena with my posts. Initially they may receive a few hundred votes and then like magic they will receive little or no votes.... It makes no sense to me that a photo can receive a lot of votes on day one - three and then little or no interest for the balance of the contest. Likewise the response when I first joined was substantially higher in the beginning vs now though the submission quality hasn't diminished. I to feel it's designed to milk me of my money by inducing me to by swaps, keys and auto fills.

You have to be able to successfully match the photo to the challenge and also understand how different people from different parts of the world view art what is appealing in the US may not be in ASIA or France you audience is also different based on time of day because when it is night her it is day on the other side of the globe so keep that in mine when looking for votes if you got a lot of votes when you first started playing that is because to a bunch of newbies you probably was great as you advance you are competing against better photographers and your work is not view from the same perspective as someone who is not advance in the art will see it hang in here and study and practice

the game is definitely rigged - they let you progress to some level and then they control your progress by limiting the exposure of the images so you never get enough votes to win necessary achievements to progress to the next level while you spending your money on boosts and swaps hoping that it will help you to progress in the game.

I noticed this too I used a boost on a very good shot and it was only seen by a little over 300 in that 24 he period I also wrote them about a glitch one photo says it was liked by 78 people in my notifications but when I click on the photo it only shows 61 likes they haven't answered back

I've pointed out that some its members are not following the rules set, like:

"Similar images: Images with the same combination of subject, background, foreground and location are not allowed. Images must be distinct."

But, I was informed they couldn't possibly find the members that are delinquent using their ranking. Then I went back and reviewed only the Top 100 and found 33 individuals with "Similar Images", within 7 minutes. I let them know the names of these individuals and then they come back with :

"If all of the members you saw as similar would have been reported then we could have gone ahead and reviewed them immediately."

Since the contest was still in progress (and still is as of this writing), I believe that response means, We don't do anything about cheaters even if you shove it in our face!

So, clearly at least 33% are cheating at least in the contest I reviewed.

I'm currently not of the caliber to be in the top 100, but there are at least 33 individuals who could have been if not for the cheaters.

What you say is 100%correct even the highest ranking guru's themselves are cheater with studio shot of all the same thing at different angles. I turn 9 different people in twice a day for 9 straight days it made no difference and the refused to respond to me messages. Just a big bunch of cheaters fighting over there shifty prizes. Crystal

I have also noticed that when you first join, it's relatively easy to move from level to level. My images nearly immediately were getting 500 votes, now the same quality of images I am using can barely surpass the skilled level. SOMETHING is not right...

in one challenge that i played, the guru picked 3 images from the same player, and two of those images were the same scene shot from slightly different angle - the definition of the similar - not only those two images should not be allowed in the game in the first place (according to rules), they are picked by the guru himself...

I joined Gurushots not too long ago and quickly rose up the ranks to where ever I am now. One day, while checking my ranking on a particular challenge I noticed the person two ranks up from mine had four photos in the challenge, but only two different photos. I decided to search through the challenge to see if others had also put up similar shots and was amazed by the number of similar shots I found. What I found more amazing was the amount of exactly the same photos people had entered in the challenge, some even had all four the same. I done the same for another challenge and had the same results. I spent hours and hours going through both these challenge and reported every single one I found. The next day I went through them again and most of them, if not all, were still there. And another thing I have found on some challenges is Gurus stating what they will regard as off topic and then picking those type of photos as their Guru picks (especially in a recent challenge called 'Flocks of birds'. The Guru on that challenge contradicted their selfs numerous times.

I enter often and usually get as high as Elite, but I don't agree with using the total votes for all four of your pictures counting toward your score. Each photo should be counted as an individual, not part of a group. How else can one photo be judged to be the best in any challenge?

When I first started submitting photos to the contests, I really enjoyed gunshots, but I am not pleased with the new swapping options. I feel like they lost some integrity, first by trying to force us to buy swaps and thinking that we are dumb enough to think that method is advantageous to us. Then by dropping the numbers of photos we can submit to the contests to three, thus making us have even more need to buy swaps. I have also noticed that the bar was suddenly raised so it has become much harder to level up. I see it all as a ploy to force us to buy swaps and I am not impressed. I am losing respect and losing interest with every new change they announce.

Liked it to start with and now it has turned into a bait and switch. They keep raising the votes needed to change levels, making it almost impossible to reach the higher levels needed to move up in the contests. After a year of doing pretty well, I now can't get past the skilled level.

I enjoy participating in Gurushots.com live photo contests and viewing other photographers' work, whether winners, guru picks or not. Unfortunately, gurus haven't picked any of my photos to display. :)

In the past, I frequently hired this site's gurus for photo critiques. This paid service is unavailable now, although old critiques are still visible. Offering this advice again would be greatly appreciated as many amateur photographers have benefited from the critiques.

Also, I have had consistent difficulty navigating the current photo contest picks as scrolling down the screen takes much time & only rarely am I able to see and vote for an array of pictures 4th down or lower. I would have alerted the site managers to this problem, but cannot find any way to do so.

You might have been number 11 on one level, then moved up to the next level where you now are number 512 in that new level. Keep in mind that, in order to move to the next level, you will be near the top of the lower level. If you do not understand how their system works it does not mean they are cheating!
