This is an excellent site. If you're looking for MIDI, KAR or BIAB files, this is the place to start. Covers all genres...rock, blues, oldies, jazz new world, 50's...it's all in one website. Constantly updated with new material monthly. Literally 1000's of files.....all free !!!

Excellent site for MIDI and BIAB files. All catagorized by genre. Lots of rock, jazz, oldies and new songs. The new site is easy to navigate. 1000's of free midi files and a great support group.

Fantastic midi site! Great midis totally free and legal. The site is filled with good midis and midi advice. Moderators are friendly and helpful. Wherever you are musically, they’ve been there. They have “made it through the rain “.

I’m not much of a midi creator but an avid biab user and export midi files regularly from biab.

I live on a sailboat currently in Vanuatu

Excellent professional sounding midi & karaoke files. Probably the best resource rich site I've come across, on par with many of the professional ones. Members are extremely knowledgeable & helpful. Almost nothing is too much trouble. Requests to convert music to midi is one of the best perks for members.
Wish I had found this site years ago but I am lucky to be a member of Midkar.com now.

Since the last time I visited, the number of midis available has grown a lot. So many great tunes. Great for singing along to or jamming on your instrument or even playing a gig as backing tracks. There are midis here you won't find anywhere else.

Midikar is one of my favorite sites and I check it daily. There is such an abundance (10's of 1,000's) of midi files and helpful members. I'm by no means a midi expert, but I do enjoy downloading files for my own play-along enjoyment! I'm sure you will too!

Great site, with continuous updates and improvements, theory and practice and lots and lots of music.
All in a special setting of friendship and cordiality.

MIDIKAR.com is the absolute best and I believe the largest single online repository of high-quality files, technical information, tips, tricks, best practices, links and fun stuff relating to MIDI / General MIDI (GM), KAR / Karaoke, Band-in-a-Box (BIAB) MGU & SGU files and MP3 backing tracks, production and performance, and even hardware and other software. There are guitar tutorials and lessons too, along with Harmonica and music theory tutorials. The community members are engaged, fun, considerate and supportive, and it's open to everyone at any age, background and skill level - from total newbs to seasoned experts. This has been my go to site for years and only scratched the surface of all it has to offer - all absolutely free - although they accept donations to help keep the site running - and I recommend that everyone should consider making a contribution of any amount - cuz the site and the people to run it are totally worth it!

Midkar has been a great tool to my music and technology utilization. I have learned some top notch skills and learned from so many of the members that are always willing to help out the new members. I am enjoying the new midi files created and this helps me to try to learn the skill in my own studio. I have recommended this site to so many interested musicians that want to learn, create and experiment with the midi format.

Outstanding, comprehensive site detailing midi, karaoke, and presenting media and information to the how and why of digital instrumentation. Links to related hardware and software in addition to housing thousands of mid and kar and backing tracks in every genre.
This is a unique site by pros. I recommend it. Easy understanding!

I am so glad I found this website. I was having trouble locating certain midi/kar files of certain artists new and old. Then I simply put a request out for these midi/kar files. Some were part of the vast library but some were created so I and others could use them. Now that's awesome in mine and anybody's book.

In this cynical greedy world it's hard to believe that there's something for nothing out there if you're a musician. Sure there are good mid files at a price and poor ones for free but are there professional level ones for free? Just have a look at Midkar. It's quite unbelievable how much there is and how good the files are.

Simply a bunch of enthusiastic musical guys & dolls who ENJOY what the create. (You can join and take part in the chat.) Just try it and see for yourself.

I have loved this site since I discovered it in 2007 and I joined immediately. Great moderators and members are always willing to help each individual who asks questions. Just a brief update. We're about to hit our 2nd birthday! Our site's been up since 2009. But our MIDI forum group at Groups.io will be 2 years old in October! Since the launch day, which started with a few more than 90 members from our old YahooGroups forum, we're now just under 300 members.

I am a new member and had a few questions on Day 1. Can't believe the incredible response. This site truly is everything it says it wants to be.... the be all of MIDI! I am sure one way or another I will learn the ins and outs of MIDI and have an amazing playlist very quickly and easily! Having spent several days looking through midi sites, and being sent in circles on what are supposed to be easy to navigate sites, I say don't waste your time. MIDKAR has it all and does it all.... simply!

I searched on google with the word midkar and that's how I ended up on your fantastic site.

I only recently joined this MIDI community. Nice and friendly people. Many MIDIs available, shared by the sequencers, as well as many useful tools and tips. Excellent site, where I found genuine and friendly people, all ready to help and give support. Thank you all, I love MidKar!!!

Always a go to site when I need a midi, or some help with a song. The Timbres Of Heaven Sound Font library is awesome for improving the sound of midi files and way better than the midi sounds in the Mac library.

This groups site hosts the best soundfont I've run across - ever. For Free. It has a host of talented Musician Sequencers who are always ready to help out their fellow musicians and then make their work freely available anyone who works with midi. It has people deeply knowledgeable about the history of popular music, rock, and jazz and some who have participated in that history. It has a community email forum that has been a consistently friendly place, supportive of beginners and pro's alike. If you have any interest in midi I highly recommended you peruse their web pages.

For over a decade I have been using midis in performance and by far this is the best site. All midis are vetted to make sure they do not infringe on commercial sites. In addition, the group is very helpful for creating new midis upon request. The quality of midis is, of course, dependent upon the constructor. Several of the contributors here are excellent.

this website is incredible. All midis are free to use.I know this site is been update and it is bound to have some issues that are corrected as soon as the problem is inform. Not every site is like that. The moderators are very knowledgeable in midi and in music, and are very helpful with your questions and requests.

I've been a member for many years. It's the go-to place to find midis and midi karaokes (midi with lyrics), play the weekly "Guess this Song" - a name those tunes using midis, and countless other music-related stuff like soundfonts and midi collections.
It is run by people dedicated to keeping midi alive and sharing the power of midi. One of the members has transcribed thousands upon thousands of pieces of sheet music into piano midis which go as far back as the 1800's - it's a library of music not easily found elsewhere.
Members can request midis and creators can share midis. It's a wonderful place for musicians and performers.

This is a premier website for anything midi. I find the companion group even more friendly and useful. Have learned a lot in a short time. The midi files are outstanding. No fees, no costs. A web rarity.

The midKar site has been under revamp/reconstruction for the past 2 months. During this time I've debugged many dead links and made a lot of repairs. And added many new MIDI and KAR files. The design has changed several times as we decide what we like. What our members like. We offer over 38,000 free MIDIs and KARs, a free sound font, tutorials, and much more. The site is a SUPPORT site for our MidKar group members. A resource for our members. And the site has been maintained by a couple retirees as they were able to keep up. We share our MIDIs with site visitors because we want to help keep MIDI alive! We sequence MIDIs by request for our members. And share them with anyone who wants what we offer. I would greatly appreciate your re-visiting the site, check out the new design. And see if your opinion of the site is different. If so, please repost. One bad review hurts us a lot! We have hundreds of positive comments from members and site visitors. But here on webwiki, 1 bad review out of 25 is pretty painful!

This site has been under a re-vitalization, thanks to the hard work of Wayne, over the last few months. I use this site almost everyday. It is a great source for MIDI files, as well as a place to gather information.
The MIDKAR group, through "Groups.io" (formerly being a Yahoo group), is a great community for discussion, related to all things MIDI.
I've found it to be a privilege to be member of the group, and be a user of the MIDKAR.COM website.

So we have a few rules in the group. Very few common sense rules. Basicall, BE NICE! And never post Pro MIDIs to the group unless you are the Pro who sequenced it.. We occasionally, maybe once every few years, get some joker subscribe, and either proceed to put members down, post nasty comments about members or their MIDI files, sometimes SPAMming the group, and sometimes posting MIDIs that are forbidden on the site. Our tolerance policy is ZERO for these offenses. This guy's name is "One". Seriously? Afraid to use your name because we might know you were EXPELLED from the group? Hard to say with a fake name like One. But he sounds like a disgruntled, boosted member to me. It doesn't really matter. MidKar is a GREAT community with a KILLER SITE! Approacing 100 pages of 42,000 MIDIs and pages of links to tons of tutorials. We're doing great without the help of "the One". I hope you all join us at Groups.io. Join us from the Website. So "the many" out do "the One"!

This is THE place to go for MIDI music. It's run by volunteers and is a clean site: No ads, no passwords, no scripts, just music.

What's even better is the group of amateur musicians who have been building up this body of work since the 1990's. Midkar is the work of many people over many years, and it's still active and growing.

Amazing free midi music source. I've been watching and benefitting from it for years - it just keeps getting better. So unusual to find talented guys having fun and doing this just for their love of music and not to make money. Sounds too good to be true - but it isn't!

MidKar is a great MIDI community. Nice people. Very good MIDI sequencers who share the MIDIs they make, daily! Over 8,000 MIDIs to find, or share yours with the group! Plus they actually teach you how to improve your MIDI sequencing, and for those interested, how to make KILLER backing tracks for live performances. There are a lot of useful tools on the MidKar site! I'm a pro musician and sequencer. And I pick up tips sometimes, too!

I first learned of MIDKAR though my journey with usenet which has allowed me to greatly reduce my reliance on usenet.

MIDKAR is populated by an eclectic group of musicians and MIDI users. They eagerly and freely share their knowledge and resources with their community. Ask a question or for help and an expert member will answer or come up with a solution.

I’m glad I joined and I would not hesitate to recommend that others join as well.
